Mauritius: Sunrise Swimming with the Dolphins & Lagoon Discovery – Exclusive

Swimming with the Dolphins!! is an all year round experience in Mauritius and nature lovers can enjoy this exciting experience in either Black River or Tamarin Bay.

What a wonderful way to start the day with an early morning encounter with Spinner and Bottlenose dolphins playing in the bay before they head back to the open sea. Get onboard our speedboat for this sunrise encounter of a lifetime. Our speed boat can seat up to 6 people and is equipped with everything you need for this magical moment such as masks, fins and snorkels.
There are two kinds of dolphins that can be observed in Mauritian waters, the Spinner and the Bottlenose. They do not like to share the same spot and you will never see them together. If the Spinners are around and the Bottlenose dolphins arrive, the Spinners will leave the bay, heading to the open sea. The Bottlenose dolphin is known all over the world and is one of the most common species. It is also the biggest amongst the different species of dolphins weighing in at up to 650 kg and growing to a length of up to 12 feet! They are famous for their intelligence, very gentle and willing to approach humans. In Mauritius, they live in groups of between 2 to 15 members.

The Spinners are much more playful and live in larger groups, up to 100 members. However, they are much smaller than their peers, the Bottlenose. These can grow upto 8 feet in length and weigh as much as 80 kg. They are famous for being very active in the morning, as this is their time to train their calves who are generally only a foot long and weigh no more than 3 kg.
If you’re lucky you may see them in the afternoon, swimming in the crystal clear lagoon.
