Tubing (‘Geko’) trip

For over two decades, Gravity Adventure has been leading the charge in river tubing, introducing countless adventurers to the thrills and serenity of the Palmiet River. Located in the heart of the breathtaking Kogelberg Nature Reserve, just an hour’s drive from Cape Town, the Palmiet River is a hidden gem. Surrounded by the vibrant Fynbos covered mountains, this river offers an adventure that’s both serene and thrilling.

At Gravity Adventure, we use specially designed ‘Gekos’ – inflatable crafts that were developed specifically for the Palmiet River. These versatile crafts can be used to lazily drift along the river or to tackle the small rapids head-on, offering both relaxation and adrenaline, depending on your mood.

Our river tubing trips are a fantastic way to experience the Palmiet River. In the Autumn and Spring, we run adrenaline-pumping white water tubing trips, while the Summer months offer a more relaxed float along the beautiful river. This experience is suitable for all ages, starting from 8 years old, and no previous experience is needed.

Your adventure begins in the morning at the Kogelberg Nature Reserve where you’ll change into your wetsuit and get equipped with a PFD and helmet. From there, it is a short 1-km walk to the river. You’ll spend around 4 hours on the water under the guidance of our qualified guides before heading back to the meeting point.

We provide all the necessary boating and safety equipment including life jackets and helmets. Wetsuits are also available for hire. As part of our commitment to preserving the natural beauty of the Palmiet River, we limit the group size to 24 people per day.

Please note, the trip price includes permits, all equipment, and APA qualified guide but does not include the CapeNature Conservation fee. If you’re a holder of the WildCard or staying in the reserve, this fee is waived.
