At Apex Shark Expeditions, we offer an exhilarating half-day tour that brings you up close and personal with some of the ocean’s most powerful predators – sharks. Our tours focus on large, active species, including the bronze whaler shark and the seven-gill shark, promising an incredible once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Our departure point is conveniently located in Simon’s Town, just a short drive from Cape Town city center and a stone’s throw away from the Cape of Good Hope and Boulders Beach Penguin Colony. The area is renowned for its marine wildlife, drawing comparisons to a sea safari. You’ll have the chance to encounter whales, dolphins, sea birds, and even get a glimpse of the largest island-based seal colony in Africa on Seal Island.

We pride ourselves on being an officially licensed Shark Cage diving Operator, with a crew who are certified specifically for this industry. We offer SCUBA on request, and no experience is required for breath-hold. We limit our group size to 12 guests to ensure a personal and intimate experience. And for large groups, our newest vessel, Ceto, is ready to accommodate you.

We have two vessels, White Pointer and Ceto, both designed for comfort, safety, and adventure. Ceto, named after the ancient Greek sea goddess and guardian of marine life, is the newest addition to our fleet. It offers spacious viewing decks, private hot showers, and a custom-engineered shark cage with panoramic viewing ports.

What’s not included?

A quote is required for any transfers outside of the Cape Town central area.

What to bring?

Dress in layers, light weather jacket in summer and warm weather jacket, beanie, scarf in winter, closed, non-slip shoes, hat/cap, polarized sunglasses, towel, bathing costume (worn under clothes), sun block & camera. If you are prone to motion sickness, or not used to being anchored at sea, we recommend Sturgeron or Dramamine tablets. Take one the night before your trip and another one and a half hour before we are scheduled to meet. For your own enjoyment of the trip, we recommend that you do not overindulge in alcohol the night before as this may result in you being very seasick the next day.

What to wear?

Warm clothing in winter: May to September – Closed non-slip shoes, long pants, waterproof jacket and cap / beanie, scarf. In summer: October – April – a light wind breaker, cap/hat, All year round – bathing suit. Bathing suit (donned under your clothing to facilitate changing into your wetsuit aboard)

We will pick you up and drop you off in the Cape Town area. Please indicate where you would like to be picked up. Collection times will be advised the day before VIA EMAIL and can start anytime from 05h00 or 07h00. Our vessels depart and return to Simon’s Town Pier, Wharf and Main Street, Simon’s Town.
