The estate covers 243 hectares, with approximately 100 hectares dedicated to vineyards and 60 hectares set aside for the Mooiplaas Private Nature Reserve.

One of the highlights of a visit to Mooiplaas is the Manor House, a national monument that exemplifies the Cape Dutch architecture popular in the 1800s. But the real charm lies in the breathtaking 360-degree views of Table Mountain, the Cape Peninsula, Stellenbosch, the Swartland, Table Bay, and False Bay.

On a guided tour, you’ll hike to the top of the property and learn about the unique terroir, vineyard practices, and the rich variety of Fynbos and Renosterbos species in the reserve. In fact, the Western Cape houses a greater variety of these plant species than all the plant species in the Northern Hemisphere!

After a refreshing morning hike, you can treat your palate to a selection of Mooiplaas’ award-winning wines. The next stop is Hartenberg, where you can enjoy a two-course lunch under majestic oaks, or by a roaring fire in winter, all while indulging in their exquisite wine selection. Hartenberg prides itself on its commitment to biodiversity and sustainable wine production practices, with a thriving wildlife population and over 120 species of birds.

The tour concludes at Villiera, a third-generation wine estate that has transformed from humble beginnings into an industry leader. This estate is renowned for its quality wine, social responsibility, environmental awareness, and conservation efforts. Here, you can enjoy a wine tasting and embark on a two-hour game drive. The wildlife sanctuary houses a variety of mammals, including springbok, kudu, giraffe, bontebok, eland, gemsbok, black wildebeest, bush pig, zebra, duiker, steenbuck, and grysbok.
