Experience the thrill of coasteering, a fresh adventure activity that lets you experience the ocean like never before. Born and bred in the rugged terrains of Wales and Scotland, we at Gravity are thrilled to bring this exhilarating activity to the vibrant shores of South Africa. Conveniently located in Simonstown, a stone’s throw away from the scenic Boulders Beach.
Coasteering bears a close resemblance to Canyoning or Kloofing, but it’s unique in its own right as it takes place along a protected coastline rather than in a river course. Each participant is equipped with a wetsuit, personal flotation device (PFD), and a safety helmet. Of course, you’re never alone, a trained guide accompanies you through this journey.
The main goal of coasteering is to explore the mesmerizing inter-tidal zone by snorkeling, swimming, and rock jumping. The crystal clear waters, combined with the protective barrier from the South Easter, makes Simonstown the perfect location for coasteering, regardless of your skill level.
This adventure also offers a bonus for nature lovers! The abundant marine life is a sight to behold. And if you’re lucky, you might even come face to face with the adorable African Penguin!
Don’t worry if you’re hesitant, we don’t force anyone to partake in the rock jumps, which can be up to 8-10m depending on the tide. We require a minimum group size of four guests for the activity to go ahead, with the maximum being 16. But don’t worry if your group is bigger, we can manage multiple groups simultaneously. If the minimum number is not reached, we’ll contact you to reschedule.
Once you’ve had your fill of adrenaline for the day, why not visit the Penguins at Boulders beach or grab a bite in Simon’s Town? You could even head to Cape Point for an incredible view of False Bay. We welcome children aged 8 and older, making this a perfect family adventure.
So come, join us, and experience the thrill of coasteering in South Africa.
